Broncos vs. Lions line, odds and predictions: Experts pick Detroit to beat Denver

The Athletic has live coverage of Lions vs. Broncos

After a dismal start to the season, the Denver Broncos look like thoroughbreds at this point in the season. The playoffs once seemed like a longshot, but Denver sits only a game behind the AFC West-leading Chiefs before it travels to Detroit for a Week 15 matchup with the Lions. The Lions are favored.

Kickoff is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. ET Saturday at Ford Field in Detroit. NFL Network will handle game coverage.

The Broncos (7-6) sat at 1-5 early in the season. They are back in the AFC postseason race after six victories in seven games, including a 24-7 road win over the Chargers in Week 14. After playing Detroit, Denver could improve its seeding as it faces the struggling Patriots, Chargers, and Raiders to close the season.

Quarterback Russell Wilson is on pace to have one of his most statistically impressive seasons. His 67.2 completion percentage in 2023 ranks as his third-best. He is on pace to throw for 30 touchdowns, the most since his 2020 season in Seattle. The threat of running back Javonte Williams helps balance the offense, and Denver’s defense has allowed an average of just 15.6 points per game since the 1-5 start.

The Lions (9-4) still sit atop the NFC North, but the Bears thoroughly outplayed them in a 28-13 Week 14 loss. Detroit’s potent offense was shut out in the second half.

Lions quarterback Jared Goff has two multi-interception games this season, and both came against the Bears. His Week 14 showing – 57.1 completion percentage, 161 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions – was statistically his worst of the season.

Despite recent play, Denver’s defense still ranks as one of the worst in the league. Detroit’s struggling D offsets its top-10 scoring offense that has the Lions on the cusp of a playoff berth.
