Skofee Says "I'm Sorry I Killed Your Plant" in Emotive New Single

Left-of-center pop riser Skofee has just shared her latest dazzling single. Called “I’m Sorry I Killed Your Plant”, the emotional new song is the latest off of her forthcoming EP Joyland, set for release later this year.

“I’m Sorry I Killed Your Plant” is a heartfelt yet poignant and witty song all about a failed relationship and the myriad of emotions that follow. Skofee confides, “I’m a little bit scared of this song. It’s one of the more personal songs I’ve written, detailing the end of a relationship via the metaphor of killing a plant.” The deeply impassioned narrative further highlights the fear of commitment and how our own demons can stop us from forming and staying in a long lasting relationship. Sonically, “I’m Sorry I Killed Your Plant” begins with moody guitar riffs underlying Skofee’s honey-dipped vocals. The enticing bedroom pop song soon culminates into a climatic chorus featuring stunning layered melodies and heightened sonics further paralleling the theme of the highs and lows of important relationships.

Skofee had an unlikely upbringing for an alt pop star, being born and raised in Wichita, Kansas. As a teen she moved to Los Angeles to study at the University of Southern California where she quickly began her musical journey. Her debut 2020 EP Polished received critical acclaim with press outlets comparing her music to Lorde. The songwriter’s highly anticipated sophomore EP Joyland, touches on important themes such as love, loss and trying to find happiness in familiar places.
